Veteran of the Army Sundeel Singh spoke at his booth about his “walnut revolution” in the little Jammu and Kashmir village of Kishtwar. He claims that in addition to taking ten years to develop fruit and producing irregular kernels that result in low yields, traditional walnut trees are infamous for their deadly accidents caused by their height.
In order to address these issues, Singh, a self-taught grafting specialist, spent 13 years converting conventional sky-high walnut trees into more manageable, smaller, high-yielding, and early-fruiting cultivars. Khichar’s inventions are revolutionizing how farmers deal with this priceless plant.
Engineer Priyank Dodhia of Maharashtra started the e-bike technology company Six Dimensions Pvt Ltd after being moved by the hardships faced by local milkmen, newspaper sellers, and dabbawalas who depend on bicycles for their livelihoods.
His invention, the Hook clamp-on gadget, converts a standard bicycle into an electric one in a matter of seconds. He says this concept empowers delivery workers, who frequently lose money because of difficult road conditions, vast distances, and the physical effort of riding a bicycle.
